Harley : A future in Animal Assisted Therapy.

Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting one four legged, extra long, extra hammy canine. I had seen photos of him, and just like his owner, he had eyes that sold his soul and I knew he was special. Harley is a dachshund-half miniature-but nothing about his personality is, that's for sure.

I rounded the corner of the hall in Harley's home and felt so excited. His wiggly body was bounding about, happy to see the familiar face of his owner and perhaps excited to meet me, a new one. Dog treats in purse, I sat down and began cooing over him, where I was instantly greeted with a roll over and scratch my belly pose which is apparently classic Harley. I think I fell in love instantly, but of course I also immediately thought of Pawsitive Therapy and his potential. It was clear to me that Harley wanted what all of us want, and what Pawsitive Therapy is all about - acceptance, love, affection, and companionship. This amazing little entity has positivity radiating from his every being as well as eyes that would even make a cat person melt.

Throughout the evening, Harley followed me as I went to the restroom (I think he just wanted more treats!), eager company but never in the way. He snuggled while watching tv and walked me to the streetcar, making sure I got on ok and almost getting on with me! Barely a peep out of his mouth, and even let the resident cat curl up with him, which I thought was adorable yet noble, not wanting his dog friends to hear about the last part though, I'm sure.
